They may start out with something like “you're so kind and generous to your friends and your children, they're so lucky to have you,” to when they start to devalue you, to “you're just way too much of a pushover, you let people get away with everything, you're a people pleaser.” Do you want to know why they do that? They're jealous of you having loyal friends for years and maybe even decades that you can rely on. They're jealous that you have a close and nurturing bond with your children. Neither of those things they've had over their life, so it's actually sad. Now I know that when you're in a healthy relationship, you feel the need to intervene, and not let your person get taken advantage of. However, if they're trying to cause drama and isolate you from your friends and your family, even your children, turn you guys against each other, they're doing it because they want you completely dependent on them and they're jealous.
